FUSTA would like to congratulate the 2009 scholarship winner,
Sarah
Clark. Sarah is from Michigan, and a student of Tracey Walton.
Along with being a competitive dancer, she has also recently passed
her associate teachers exams with the BATD. Her high academic
achievements as well as her initiatives to promote highland dancing
made Sarah a standout amongst her peers. According to Sarah her
"life
has benefited significantly through dance as shown by my lasting
friendships and ability to express my heritage through movement."
We wish her well as she heads off to further her education and life
experiences.

The
Queen of Scots Dance Academy dancers, parents, and friends walked
in their 4th annual American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against
Breast Cancer Walk on October 17th in Ann Arbor, MI. The QSDAers walk
annually in this walk to raise funds and awareness for the
disease, which their dance teacher, Bree Brownlee, is a 2 year survivor
of. Along the route they handed out star wands to all of the survivors
to show their support. Together they raised over $5,000! If you would like to donate
to their cause,
click here to make an online donation.
Earlier
in October, they also spent some time walking for the Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation to help raise funds and awareness for this disease
which affects one of their dancers, Kinady Campbell. Together
they raised over $1,000!

They would like to extend a HUGE thank-you
to all of their highland friends who helped support them in these walks.
"We never could have done it without you!" |
